The Jondaryan Woolshed
Only 30kms from Kingsthorpe, the Jondaryan Woolshed is Queensland's oldest operating woolshed, and is just down the road from Sugarloaf Mountain Country Retreat. Take a relaxing drive through the rural countryside. 18km from Kingsthorpe you'll find the Highfields Pioneer Historical Village, a village committed to preserving the Darling Downs of the past. With its large collection of vintage machinery, the Historical Village gives you insight into how early Australian pioneers worked the land in this region.

Bunya Mountains National Park
In an isolated part of the Great Dividing Range is Bunya Mountains National Park, located 100kms from Kingsthorpe. The views of native Queensland wet and dry rainforest are second to none. In one day you can see a Bunya pine forest, rare grass species and the awe-inspiring Bunya Mountains. Stop off at the nearby township of Dandabah to buy some unique local crafts, a few bottles from a cellar door or simply for some tea and scones.
Crows Nest National Park
50km from Kingsthorpe is the spectacular Crows Nest National Park, home of the breathtaking Crows Nest Falls. Watch the falls of up to 20m cascade into the waterhole below. Granite cliffs up to 120m high create a gorge downstream, leading to landscapes of astounding variety.
Ravensbourne National Park
Ravensbourne National Park is one of the last remaining examples of the original rainforest. Only 52km from Kingsthorpe, this national park is a mecca for birdwatchers, with more than 80 species of birds being sighted in the park.

Shoppers will find plenty to keep them busy in the Darling Downs region around Sugarloaf Mountain. With wineries and Toowoomba's famous antique galleries, our guests are bound to return home with treasured mementos of their stay in the Golden West.
Highfields
Only 18km from Kingsthorpe is Highfields, a great place to find treats for the whole family. Art lovers will spend hours wandering through the Danish Flower Art Centre, and the Highfields Village Green which boasts many antique, art and other speciality stores. The kids (and those with a sweet tooth) will love Highfields Chocolate Cottage.
Cabarlah
Cabarlah, located 25kms from nearby Kingsthorpe, is home to the Black Forest Hill Cuckoo Clock Centre. In this region you'll find many shops that are well stocked with artistic treasures for you to take home, as well as unique objet d'art, furniture and pottery made by local artisans. Held on the last Sunday of each month, the Cabarlah Country Markets offer a range of old wares, craft, art, woodwork, plants and food.
Wedgetail Ridge Winery
Just next door to our country cottage is the Wedgetail Ridge Winery. This boutique winery specialises in unique traditional and herb-infused wines. Pop next door for a cellar door tasting of these unusual wines, or indulge with a slice of cake. Wedgetail Ridge is conveniently close to your accommodation, so you can easily enjoy a few glasses and wander home for the evening.
